PROJECT OUTLAW: REBORN FOR THE RUGGED TEXAS TERRAIN

1981 PORCHE 911 SC

BESPOKE BUILD, ONE OF ONE.

This classic air-cooled Porsche is trading the tarmac for the trail. Originally a streetcar that was transformed into a fully caged classic race car—and famously campaigned in a Gulf tribute livery—this 911 SC is about to undergo its most radical evolution yet.

Our client, an Austin-based investor and entrepreneur, wanted something far beyond a traditional 911 restoration. They demanded a machine that reflects their individuality while embracing the heritage of one of Texas’ most legendary, 500,000-acre ranches. At Genesis Motorworks, we don't just modify vehicles; we take total control of a project from the ground up to execute the customer's vision with passion, precision, and an intense attention to detail.

THE VISION

THE "OUTLAW" ETHOS

Because this vehicle will traverse a massive expanse of both paved and unpaved ranch
roads, we decided to lean heavily into the “Outlaw Porsche” ethos. True Outlaw builds
prioritize function over glossy paint, and raw performance over shiny tires. Every
modification and enhancement is engineered to vastly improve the vehicle's capability to
conquer rugged terrain at speed.

Our client, an Austin-based investor and entrepreneur, wanted something far beyond a traditional 911 restoration. They demanded a machine that reflects their individuality while embracing the heritage of one of Texas’ most legendary, 500,000-acre ranches. The interior will reflect the demands of rugged ranch life. The entire chassis underside and interior have been raptor coated. The interior will be finished with a bespoke black wool carpet with handmade ranch themed floor mats. For seating we like Recaro,
Sparco and Sheel Mann. The owner chose Sparco. The seats are finished in black napa leather with cool checker center panels (a call back to vintage Porsche’s of that era). The doors, dashboard, under dash pad, center console, and rear deck lid will be
finished in a textured Nappa leather that retains the natural grain of the leather and gives a unique texture and feel. Steering is provided by an Alcantara wrapped MOMO wheel with a racing style quick release. The interior roll cage will be finished with a
leather wrap (at this stage in the project, the color is TBD). Door hardware and pulls are custom machined by Genesis and feature black anodized hardware with Nappa leather pull straps. All switchgear across the instrument panel has been fabricated by Genesis.

In addition to the in-cabin finishes, there will be a tremendous amount of technology upgrades. Starting with 1000-watt eight channel amplifier, reference Hertz speakers and crossovers, mated to a sleek marine grade head unit. Front and rear cameras for
driving and reversing, coupled to a front and rear dash cam with night vision and security cameras.

The wheels selected for this build mimic the epic and sadly no longer available Campagnolo 40802 magnesium wheels of the 1960’s. Our tire choice is a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KDR3 SXS If it works in Dakar, it’s perfectly suited to the
ranch.
