This classic air-cooled Porsche is trading the tarmac for the trail. Originally a streetcar that was transformed into a fully-caged classic race car—and famously campaigned in a Gulf tribute livery—this 911 SC is about to undergo its most radical evolution yet.
Our client, an Austin-based investor and entrepreneur, wanted something far beyond a traditional 911 restoration. They demanded a machine that reflects their individuality while embracing the heritage of one of Texas’ most legendary, 500,000-acre ranches.
At Genesis Motorworks, we don't just modify vehicles; we take total control of a project from the ground up to execute the customers vision with passion, precision, and an intense attention to detail.
THE VISION:
THE "OUTLAW" ETHOS
Because this vehicle will traverse a massive expanse of both paved and unpaved ranch roads, we decided to lean heavily into the “Outlaw Porsche” ethos. True Outlaw builds prioritize function over glossy paint, and raw performance over shiny tires.
Every modification and enhancement is engineered to vastly improve the vehicles capability to conquer rugged terrain at speed.
ENGINEERING & STANCE
To handle the unforgiving ranch landscape, Project Outlaw will be lifted approximately 6 to 7 inches, utilizing a heavy-duty, long-travel suspension system. We are wrapping the chassis in full-length protective skid and bash plates, integrating a hidden 12,000-pound winch, and fitting rally-style mud flaps.
When you are traveling at speed off-road in remote locations, visibility is everything. Lighting will be provided by our partners at Baja Designs, outputting a staggering 89,800 raw lumens. For context, the searchlight on most military and police helicopters pushes about 60,000 lumens. With the flick of a switch, this Porsche will command nearly 30,000 lumens more than a police chopper, creating instant daylight on the darkest trails.
To complete the aggressive exterior, the bodywork will replicate the iconic, wide-stance vintage Porsche 911 RSR from the 1980s.
RUGGED LUXERY: THE CABIN EXPERIENCE
The interior must withstand the extreme demands of ranch life without sacrificing high-end refinement. The entire chassis underside and interior tub have been Raptor-coated for ultimate durability. Over this, the cabin will feature bespoke black wool carpeting paired with handmade, ranch-themed floor mats.
For seating, the owner selected Sparco over Recaro or Scheel-Mann. The seats will be trimmed in premium black Nappa leather featuring classic cool-checker center panels—a distinct callback to vintage Porsches of the era. The doors, dashboard, under-dash pad, center console, and rear deck lid will be wrapped in textured Nappa leather, retaining the hides natural grain for a highly tactile, unique feel.
An Alcantara-wrapped MOMO steering wheel on a racing-style quick release puts the driver in total control. The interior roll cage will be completely leather wrapped to match the cabins elevated aesthetic.
To highlight Genesis Motorworks; bespoke fabrication capabilities, we custom-machined the door hardware and pulls, featuring black anodized hardware and Nappa leather pull straps, alongside custom-fabricated switchgear across the entire instrument panel.
TECHNOLOGY & GRIP
In addition to the premium cabin finishes, Project Outlaw features a massive technology overhaul. We are integrating a 1,000-watt eight-channel amplifier with reference Hertz speakers and crossovers, entirely controlled by a sleek, dust-and water-resistant marine-grade head unit.
For situational awareness and security, the Porsche will be equipped with front and rear driving cameras, backed by a dash-cam system featuring night vision and integrated security surveillance.
Finally, the vehicle's footprint needs to be as legendary as its silhouette. The wheels selected for this build mimic the highly coveted 1960s Campagnolo 40802 magnesium wheels. These will be wrapped in a set of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KDR3 SXS tires.
If it works in the grueling conditions of Dakar, it’s perfectly suited for the Texas ranch.
